Paul Cramp: Accreditation in Horticulture and Garden Design
After 10 years spent maintaining a private garden in Markyate, Hertfordshire, I have received permission from the client to share with you our progress and try to pass on skills that would benefit other people who also desire the skills to care for their garden
With accreditation in Horticulture and Garden Design, I have always been an advocate for training people, which includes training numerous young people to become professional gardeners which led to my receiving of the Employer Award from Oaklands College, St Albans for services to apprenticeships.
As a member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture, I am constantly searching for solutions to help people become engaged in the environment around them and can help people maintain their own gardens with confidence!
Session Times Tuesday: 9.30-11.00am, or 13.00-14.30pm Thursday: 9.30-11.00am, or 13.00-14.30pm Saturday: 9.30-11.00am, or 13.00-14.30pm The sessions are individual and you can choose morning or afternoon or both. What is a lesson like?
General Training
A large part of the session will consist of working our way around the 2 acres finding lots of things to do in real-time that will allow you to see for yourself what needs to be done with certain plants.
Part of this will be learning about plant identification, types of plants, soil improvement, integrated pest management, pruning skills, cultivation, and propagation, and the list is endless.
Features Presentation
There will be a 30-minute feature presentation on seasonal topics listed below that correspond with the date of the lesson. This can be anything from pruning roses, planting correctly, using plant foods, soil analysis, etc. and they will correspond with the current season.
